a walk to the L239 23/04

A view of the isthmus between L239 and L240 taken from the dock on L239. The weir where the outflow is measured is seen to the far right of the picture (click on the picture for an enlarged view). The measurement of the outflow is one of the figures used by the hydrologist to ascertain the water budget for a body of water. The other picture was taken from the dock looking the other way. Notice the colour of the water. The brown colour is from the dissolved organic carbon. This area of the lake close to the shore is called the littoral zone.

Close, closer, closest... a view of the bay between the isthmus and the dock on L239. I liked the impressionistic look of the closer and closest pictures made by the subtle movement of the water from a light breeze.

I'm fairly certain this is a Hairy Woodpecker at work on a Birch tree.
