Moose Pond

This is the weir where the out flow from the Moose Pond is measured. I went to look at the weir while I waited for the Great Horned Owl family to return to the pond. The first pictures I took were out of focus. I hadn't realized I had changed one of the settings on my camera making it very difficult to get a photo of the owl family, two adults and three youngsters.

A very small Great Horned Owl atop a very large rock. Orange Hawkweed. One of the youngsters atop a Birch snag.

the very large rock again looking very much like a dragon. Tree roots looking very much like antlers and a wee Painted Turtle basking on a log in the morning sun.

A shy Daisy .............................rock guys built from rocks blown apart to form a ditch along the road and a Daisy with strange petals.

A dead Garter Snake with amazing colour.... a Blue Flag ........ a mourning Cloak Butterfly resting on a squashed Snapping Turtle.

Loop Trail June 12

A close up of a very busy anthill. I am fascinated by ants in their communities. The surface area of this anthill is about three feet by four feet.

A Mocassin flower.......................a moth on a Bluebead flower................... Pale Corydalis flowers over Star flowers.

The out flow of Scummy Lake shot while standing on the weir and a close up of the middle section.

A Bog Rosemary flower..............an old Jack Pine snag still standing after being burned in the forest fire from the early 1980's and a close up of the tree.

The weir at the outflow of Lake 6661............The reflection on the pond before the weir of the monitoring structure.

Swallowtail Butterflies feeding on owl pellets...........a White Violet flower nestled in Sphagnum Moss.

Pussy Toes flower...............Wild Strawberry flower.................Cinquefoil flower

The one rock guy to survive the joy of a two year old derived by knocking down rock guys. On that stretch of the road I had built about twenty rock guys.
