first walk of spring morning of 19/04

My first photo of the season is of a Spruce Grouse just off the path on my way to scummy aka L470

Trailing Arbutus buds, the first wildflower to bloom here at ELA, The water is low this year so i walked out on the rocks to take these pictures of scummy. The first looking SW with the beaver dam and outflow to the left in the picture and the next looking north towards the 303 ridge. I love the combination of reflections in the water and being able to see through the water to see the bottom of he lake.

Those of you who read the blog last year will recognize this Pitcher Plant. Next an under the water view of the lake bottom and a look through the v-notch at the scummy weir. I was intrigued by the reflection of the trees in the water behind the weir. The weir has instruments attached that measure the outflow from scummy which flows into L240.

I just liked the way this dead leaf looked amongst the green moss and the pine needles, interesting birch bark peeling and last years mushrooms on a birch stump.
